BRUSSELS, Belgium – July 2, 2007 – Delhaize Group (Euronext Brussels: DELB, NYSE: DEG), the Belgian international food retailer, announced today that it has completed the earlier announced sale of Di, its Belgian beauty and body care business to NPM/CNP Group and Ackermans & van Haaren.
On March 15, 2007, Delhaize Group announced it had reached a binding agreement to sell Di, a transaction which was approved by the European antitrust authorities on June 1, 2007.
The transaction was officially closed on June 30, 2007. Delhaize Group received an amount of EUR 33.4 million in cash, subject to contractual adjustments.
Delhaize Group opened its first Di store in 1975. The Di network consists of company-operated and franchised stores, which contributed EUR 95.5 million to Delhaize Group’s 2006 net sales and other revenues.
